This gallery complements our post about 6 reasons to visit the Bradford Industrial Museum. Head there for all the details about the museum, but in a nutshell, this is what it is.
The museum at Moorside Mills showcases working textile machinery, steam power, engineering, and motor vehicles, including Jowett cars and vintage bikes. The mill was a worsted-spinning mill built in 1875 and later converted into a museum in 1974.
It’s a significant museum reflecting the city’s heritage, as Bradford was regarded as the wool capital of the world, where two-thirds of England’s wool was processed. This brought huge wealth to the area, resulting in what was, and still is, an architecturally marvellous city, home to one of the highest concentrations of Victorian buildings in the country.
While you are there, you can watch demonstrations of spinning, weaving, printing, and blacksmithing, which add authenticity to the experience.
