5 Uplifting Things to Do in Hay on Wye

Looking for things to do in Hay on Wye? Me (Joel) and an old friend of mine, Rob, headed to Hay on Wye for a bit of a lads weekend to catch up and enjoy a bit of kayaking. Rob came down on his brand-new Royal Enfield Himalayan and I went in Bumper, of course. We both came from the Midlands and unfortunately, Rob got caught in severe traffic and heavy rain, which led to a rather wet and late arrival. So wet, he could wring his gloves out Ha! But despite that, we had a cracking weekend catching up over a few beers, coffees and paddles on the River Wye. Read on to find out more about the town!

The Lake District – 4 Must Visit Beautiful Lakes of the Lake District (Plus Some Things to Do!)

The Lake District

We thought we’d have a short break in the Lake District and we had high hopes for it! So high, it would be very difficult to live up to them. We have friends who grew up not far from the Lakes and loads of recommendations from others to visit…but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Apologies to all you Lake District fans out there K That’s not to say we didn’t have a good time. We did. And it was a great adventure, as you’d expect from The Bumper Crew, but it just lacked…something. And that something has made this post very difficult to write. It just wasn’t as inspiring as we’d hoped.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge 2021

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge was a bit of a training run for us, I suppose. Dek, a colleague of mine, set himself 30 challenges to do in his 30’s, of which one was the National Three Peaks Challenge, to tackle Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon. I’d already walked Ben Nevis and Snowdon and wanted to walk Scarfell Pike. So how better to do that than to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge with Dek?

A Weekend at Autograss Racing – An Outsider’s View

Autograss Racing

Have you ever been Autograss Racing? No? Nor us. Life is all about new experiences, right? I (Joel) have a philosophy of “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it”. You don’t really know what something is like until you’ve tried it, like fishing. Fishing looked boring, but I couldn’t categorically say it was boring until I tried it. Trying it confirmed it was boring. Sorry, fishing fans! Ha! Anyway, we went to an Autograss racing weekend…

10 Best Places to Visit in the Cotswolds

Before I get into the list of the 10 best places to visit in the Cotswolds, let’s talk a little about the place… When I think of the Cotswolds, I think of an area that is quintessentially English. If you want a taste of the best of what England has to offer, look no further than the Cotswolds. You will fall in love with the rolling hills, history, thatched cottages, and romantic views.
